Apparently the parasite was supposed to be a slap in the wrist and not a full exiling, though I wouldn't see why just a warning would suffice unless hyper-brief status inflictions are their way of warning people, which I think could also be taken the wrong way if the recipient isn't completely aware of the situation (which I guess I was, in this case).
