It was a warm night in Robot City when we realized that it would be our last summer vacation. Next year, we'd graduate Robot High School.

We looked at each other coasting under the city lights and overpasses, knowing the skateboards and rollerblades we had mastered would eventually go obsolete and be turned off forever. Each of us would go our separate ways into the future, leaving our former selves behind.

But not yet. Not that night.

...

2A03 + VRC6
This is my first serious tune in a long time. Thanks! ^__^

Thanks Tuxxy! Zillah, it took some googling but I figured out what you're talking about... I had no idea about "My Life as a Teenage Robot" so this definitely isn't an homage to it or anything... One of my colleagues insisted that this should be the title of a chiptune when we were riffing on the "I was a teenage <noun>" meme earlier. :D

I like this a lot!! I'd love to see teh sauce :)
I absolutely love the Moog-esque detuned lead sound you have there. It sounds very authentically Minimoog due to that particular duty cycle and the linear portamento. It's beautiful!

Thanks so much, moot! I'll never forget the day I laid fingers on a minimoog. Maybe I'll have one some day...

I provides teh sauce!

Here are all my progress snapshots from start to finish if anybody's interested. I worked on the song in short bursts starting in late June. In _005 you can see me starting to experiment with the lead sound in the bottom frames. Also in parts of the solo I added little Gxx effects to simulate actual fingers stretching across keys. I used my little Casio CZ-101 to work out the solo stuff.
Sorry for the sloppiness! I still feel like a total n00b at this. :)

Thanks man! I still feel like a total n00b at any kind of tracker as well, haha. The tune sounds great!
And the Mini...yeah, I only got to play an original Model D once, and it was not in good nick, but it was still a glorious experience. It's truly my dream instrument. I feel like there will always be something missing until I finally get one. I've come close to buying a couple of them, and they slipped through my fingers...and this was back when one could still be had for around $1000. But I was still in high school and college, and just couldn't get that kind of cash.
I'll have to say though, Native Instruments new Monark is absolutely the closest thing I've heard or played. Actually, it is hands-down, without a doubt, THE best emulation of an analog synth I know of. It would fool anybody. So for now it will have to suffice :) It has totally infected me with Moog madness once again though.
I was in a bad car accident two days ago that totaled my car, so that's priority right now, hehe :) (don't worry, I'm ok)

Description gives me such a bitter-sweet feeling :,| especially the part about the rollerblades and skateboards. Touched my heart.
