This is one of the tracks on my upcoming all-YM2612 album, to be released on Cheapbeats in a couple months. Though I wrote this one with the Spring Tracks battle in mind, and am very excited to premier it for my botb fam.

The drums and record scratches are DAC samples, the rest is my FM sounds and YM2612/Defle abuse. As always, thank you for listening!

This is a great improvement over what you did in WC12! The mix of styles is definitely executed very well, as others have mentioned, and is also interesting to say the least. I still found some problems with it, though.

I think this could've been a lot better if it uses some key switches or modulations. After 2 minutes or so it started getting a bit repetitive, and while I still enjoyed the song, I think I would've enjoyed it a lot more if you used those. The DAC scratches don't sound good either, I didn't know they were Vinyl Scratches until I read the description.

Those few issues aside, I think this is a great track! maybe we should collaborate

Don't see this as something directly negative, it's defo nice but for my taste it's really cluttered and really chaotic. There's isn't anything like a clear melody as well.

It's technically pretty impressive for the sgen format, but technicality isn't my biggest factor for finding a song good.

It can be me but I just find it lacking of a clear structure and clear music in general.

It wasn't really repetitive to my taste, but it became uninteresting after a certain moment though, presumably due to no clear, uh, 'things'.

Nice usage of samples, nice usage of style switch. da first part is really funkeh and Amen Break sample at the end even

But like I said don't take it as all negative, I'm just pointing out my personal complaints with it and everyone has different opinions and such.

Also, regarding chaos.. I am not sure if i get this correctly, but apparently the association here is the beat-drivenness of the tune, especially when it gets wilder and more IDM. You should take a listen to these songs from strategical rpgs

https://youtu.be/dqJ6NdsHyGY?t=4m26s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4fUjwSl4nA (pro-tip wait for 1:02)

http://www.vizzed.com/videogames/music.php?song=60045#player1?catid=0&trackid=0

These are all building up on more or less clean notes, in a more or less classical style.

I don't want to argue greatly here, but i think just because something is more beat or melody focussed doesn't say much about its nature.. I often hear people argue that this or that music is chaotic, or not real music, because it isn't based on melodic foundations.. Well i guess i need to show those people the tunes above as well ^^

Edit:

While we're at it ^_~

Edit 2: Regarding the Clownpiece theme; when even the beautiful parts start to feel twisted, You get to know of the true 'chaotic' potential of melodic music lol

Edit 3: tehhh d3d had some nice band and i think their music was based on a melodic foundation pretty much as well~ ok i'll stop now haha

having people argue at length about the merits and shortcomings of your song is pretty positive feedback in itself. i'd like to augment that feedback by saying that i dig this. 👍

I kinda agree with some of the comments here, it's very technically "neat" (for lack of a better word?) and the style really sticks out in a good way (mostly rhythmically, especially with the glitch effect stuff). The biggest thing it's lacking is some real direction. The style changes are good enough to carry the whole track through and keep it interesting but it feels like it's lacking a real melody of sorts.

Still a great track from ya! It's chaotic/interesting, but not too crazy for my tastes.

The crazy drums definitely create that feeling of chaos and "technicity"!

I would like to see a real guy trying to play that..

Great tune, great chord progression in the intro, and interesting mix of genres with these scratches ^^

Competition in Deflemask is going to be super tough :o :o
