some really good entries so far! i hope i at least get two in. been at my new girlfriend's house a lot lately. gotta go home in order to work on code-based entries. plan to focus on 2600 and VIC20. all of you are better than me in most other categories with the new insurgence of teenage band-crabs.
it really is. ! the quality of the entries is v. high and i have discovered amazing musickeers i didn't know about before winterchip started! BEST WINTERCHIP!!!! puke7777777 thanks it's such a great winterchip :!
It's a shame that I could only do one track, although I had a lot of fun doing said one track; I hope I can be more productive for other big battles! Let's screw up that tinyint counter next time, hahahahahaha
Had I thought of it, I would have considered doing a Game Boy entry using a native Game Boy tracker. I would have uploaded my save file, stated the requirements to use the file, and then rendered an .mp3 of it. ^_^ However, six is good enough for me, as it was disastrous when I attempted a whole bunch with Sample Pack Compo 6.
:) you can idle in the IRC chat! (you can get there by clicking "Chats" at the top, or download something like mIRC or pidgin) we do small impromptu compos whenever we feel like it, and if you're in chat it'll alert you
(plus you can say hi to everyone here~ we're all good friends)

Yeah, that might be interesting. You could manipulate voting habits through taxes. Deposit 20% of your boons to enter major, recovered when you vote every entry. For non-entrant maybe a smaller deposit (or maybe a bonus, i.e. boonus, just for voting). Maybe you only get half of them back if your votes don't have a wide enough standard deviation too! The act of computing a standard deviation would also help auto-detect troll voters too.
i think percentages would ensure anyone could participate, both n00bz and mighty botbrs. i think a flat rate only has the potential to motivate a certain boon demographic and exclude n00bz, while the boonionairs won't sweat losing a small portion of their monies to laziness.
30 minutes to go and I won't be here for the sluts SO SAD.
Best of luck to everyone who entered, I think we all did a fabulous job and I'm proud I was able to contribute to the largest winterchip EVAR! :3
I want to thank you all for participating and being a wonderful community! Sorry about the delay on the sluts, I was having a last minute tally bug trying to deal with votes contain NULL values. That's fixed for the future!! :X
Now, I'm gonna be a good boy and get caught up at my real job. Then, later, I'm gonna eat something delicious and get obnoxiously drunk. By myself, or with y'all on IRC, if I have to!! :D/
I know people are sad about how they didn't get any medals, or even any tincans. To those people I say worry not - what matters is that you have contributed to one of the best chiptune competitions of the year!! As long as you keep practising (such as in BotB's many OHBs) you will only get better, and you'll soon do better than you did in this competition!!
I want to see all of you and more in Summer Chip ]I[ (assuming there is one), and I want to see you all doing better than this time!! 6 months is a very long time to improve in, and I just know you will!! Just believe in yourself!!
So many fantastic entries this year; awesome compo guys, definitely one of the best BotB has had :D I'm glad to be in the top 7 let alone win (despite not actually winning any of the other catagories?). Look forward to participating in future compos :)
Congrats to Eff-Oh-Dee-Steve, TQ-Jam, and Strobe!!
However, regardless of this Winter Chip's astounding quality and tough competition, the votes are too damn high! I can't take the results with a straight face when the top seven entries have scores well above 30. On top of having a bunch of hyperactive BotBrz and/or fresh n00bz (spacing them apart) voting too liberally... or so I'd guess.
