I . . . I probably could show up, actually.

I have no idea who these people are who are playing, though. What's their music like?

well, i'm mostly excited about dr. von pnok, who i actually heard about through botb, although he doesn't seem to participate anymore:

http://battleofthebits.org/barracks/Profile/dr+von+pnok

i imagine this stuff will be more like what he'll play live:

http://www.myspace.com/zombipnok

other than that, i've heard of a few of the names but i don't really remember what they sound like, since the last time i went to blip was before i was really connected to the chip scene. i seem to remember it being pretty gameboy/lsdj-heavy last time, which is generally to my liking :)

Yeah, my connection to the scene is like a 16-ton weight hanging from a strand of dental floss. But, besides that, what GENRE of music will they be playing?

8bitpeoples, the web label. the majority of the artists within their discog are like what xterm described, heavy/blastbeat gameboy music.

dr. von pnok looks to be interesting chip/idm stuff

misfitchris does an interesting take on fakebit house music for the most part. he also used to make some interesting dance-classical hybrid NES tunes, but he kind of quit all that.

george and johnathan are hyper-zapp-and-roger-fakebit-funk, and are *kind of* a big deal in some circles and probably the most pop-o-fame-o-licious dudes in that lineup.

everything else looks to be gameboy dance-ish tunage

I mean, I don't know . . . I wouldn't expect to plug my name there or anything, selling out isn't what I really do. Not my kind of music, either.

Now, if there was a BotB Festival, I'd be all over that.

im not much into the line up either tbh....the japan one looked way better. namely for little scale and them dope oz cats. but to zero and chips. you sound a tiny tiny bit bitter. i would hardly say playing at blip is 'selling out'. its hardly a big commercial event jeeeez

I attended the first three or four BlipFezzss. I did a famitracker workshop at the last one I attended. After having the backstage pass for that one I kind of lost interest in attending again without one. Every year I seem to only enjoy about 10-20% of the acts. It reminds me of going to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival where there is sooo much 'dance' music (where 'dance' music equates to a bunch of even techno beats and I have an aversion to such styles for any prolonged period of time). Anywho, I would probably go if I lived in the city for at least one night and if it wasn't so dang close to my birfday. IT IS kind of amazing to watch the crowd - the diehards that love 100% of everything that is happening and the newcomers who stare wide eyed or giggle in disbelief that such a party exists. I would also like to go to catch up with all the New Yorker chippie kids that I haven't seen since then! ;)

It wasn't ALL ultra-dance crap. There was some harsher unorthodox stuff like :| Krew, shitbird.....ok, two of em,lol. Pnok was the shit too btw
,and Omadaka was unreal, @_@ amazing performance
