Hey guys how do I make snes chiptune in a daw/fl studio?

I don't want to use a tracker at all. I have also heard about this vst called koji but I'm not sold on that yet .

I know there is some processing done to get a snes sound but I don't know how it's done.

one of the simpler options is to find a nice set of soundfonts
. this is great if you don't want to bother with custom samples.

as for processing to make things sound authentic, keep in mind the limitations of the hardware capabilities
. you don't have to strictly adhere to the limit of 8 simultaneous samples at a time, or only having .25 seconds of delay for echoes, but it might be an interesting artistic constraint.

I see, I really want to dig deeper though than just soundfonts. Thanks for the tip :)

there is not a dedicated tracker for it *yet*, tho theres an easy enough fix in writing an .it module and converting with snesmod. there might be a cooler solution floating around, but thats the one i use

I noticed you only entered wildchips and allgears. I don't want to force anything on you and learning a tracker might seem challenging and intimidating at first but its really rewarding and fun once you get the hang of it.

A tracker is really challenging for me. Especially for drums, I have tried deflemask several times for Sega genesis and I just suck with trackers.

I wouldn't really consider DefleMask suitable for beginners. Have you tried anything else? If you wanna give trackers another chance I'd suggest FamiTracker, MilkyTracker or OpenMPT. Fami is for NES-style chip music, latter two are for traditional sample-based modules and they are all relatively easy compared to something like DefleMask.

I have only tried deflemask because I'm really into Sega genesis

If by chiptune you mean a thing playable on the actual hardware, then Delta's method would be the only way inside a DAW. Otherwise you're making SNES-style fakebit, not chiptune, unless that's what you want idk

Right now all I have done is fakebit, I have dabbled in deflemask but I have never finished anything in deflemask.

idk i just open notepad and write several pages of random symbols and save it as an spc

^ yeah, just use AMK lmao

it's pretty finicky at first, but you can actually do some very cool shit with it if you know what you're doing

(also hi, I'm just a random noob, but also part-time BotB lurker and full-time SMWC poster; some people from here already know me, but sadly that's not the case with everyone else :V)
